Don Rogers didn't start Donobrog with a lot of capital. He started it with something harder to come by — decades of experience, a sharp eye for solving production problems, and the belief that a facility can always work better than it does today.
Before Donobrog, there was Don Rogers — a guy working in the conveyor sector, helping facilities move products from point A to point B, reducing manual labor, and optimizing production flow. He called it what it was: a moving jigsaw puzzle. And he was good at finding the missing pieces.
When it was time to build something of his own, he tried every industrial name he could think of. The Secretary of State kept sending him back — someone already had it. Every single one. So he did what any resourceful man would do: he made one up.
Donobrog, Inc. was incorporated in 1993 with a clear purpose: to build personal connections with clients who wanted to improve their facilities — and to see those improvements through from start to finish. Not just advise. Not just sell. Actually do the work.
"The clients always seem to have a few missing pieces. That's where I would come in — to tweak their productive layout or even assist a complete flow overhaul."— Don Rogers, Founder & President
Every business has to start somewhere. For Donobrog, it started with a retired school bus.
Borrowing startup money wasn't the answer — Don had seen too many people get in over their heads trying to build something on borrowed capital. So instead, he found a better way. A decommissioned school bus, pulled from a bone yard, with the seats removed. Strip it out and what you have is a perfectly functional mobile office — surrounded by windows, with wheels to take the business wherever the work was.
"Today I see start-ups in the over abundant cargo containers — but without windows or wheels," Don says. "If I was young and starting all over again, I'd still choose the school bus."
That kind of resourcefulness — practical, creative, and completely unbothered by how things are supposed to be done — is still at the core of how Donobrog approaches every project.
Don built Donobrog on a philosophy that's simple but rare: show up dressed to work, listen more than you talk, and never advise on day one. The best solutions come from understanding the problem completely — not from guessing fast.
Don specializes in manufacturers and logistics distribution facilities. The size of the operation doesn't define the need — innovation comes in all sizes.
